Diep River Fynbos Corridor Project Thursday,4 December 2008
A dedicated person has been appointed to secure the existing biodiversity along the Diep River Corridor and prevent further degradation of the vegetation. This area is home to the critically endangered Cape Flats Sand Fynbos and Endangered Cape Flats Dune Strandveld, which needs to be secured in a strategically placed vegetation corridor.
The appointed conservator will look at securing these species as well as develop skills in environmental management and public liaison while contributing towards sustainable urban development and raising awareness.
SACET was founded by WWF South Africa in July 2000 as a means of ensuring a permanent income stream for education and training of SADC conservation managers at the Southern African Wildlife College.
The National Parks Trust of South Africa was established in 1986 by WWF South Africa’s patron, Dr Anton Rupert, after R4 million was donated to conservation by two foreign donors.
