WWF-SA,
together with our associated trusts, the Table Mountain
Fund and The Green Trust, support and develop projects
which are aligned with our Strategic Conservation Focus
and which addresses high priority conservation needs,
are exemplary, catalytic and do not duplicate existing
initiatives.
The
Concept Proposal Screening Process
| 1.
|
Submit
a one-page concept outline of the project. This concept
proposal should contain the objectives of the project,
its approximate time frame (e.g. 3 months, 1 year),
a rough indication of what it will cost, and the organisation
that will carry out the project. WWF-SA does not provide
funding to individuals. |
| 2. |
Applicants
are welcome to contact Cynthia Smith for The Green
Trust at csmith@wwf.org.za,
Zohra Parkar-Salie for the Table Mountain Fund at
zparkar@wwf.org.za
and Yulin Linklater at ylinklater@wwf.org.za
for advice regarding specific concept proposals. |
| 3. |
Concept
proposals are considered at Conservation Division
meetings. These meetings take place every six weeks.
At these meetings, WWF-SA decides whether or not concept
proposals are in line with our Strategic Conservation
Focus (i.e. this is the first screening of requests
for support). |
| 4. |
You
will be notified in writing if your concept proposal
has met our initial criteria or not. If your concept
proposal is aligned with our Strategic Conservation
Focus, an application form will be sent to you.
|
|
The Project Application Review and Decision-Making
Process
|
5. |
Completed application forms are returned to WWF-SA,
preferably electronically. |
| 6.
|
Completed
application forms are then sent out for external review
and our Project Approval Group, which meets three
times a year, makes a final decision. |
| 7. |
Deadlines
by which your completed application form must
reach us to accommodate the review process are: 31
January, 30 May and 1 September 2005. These dates
may change and, in the case of The Green Trust, may
differ, so we encourage you to contact us and confirm
them well in advance to avoid disappointment. |
| 8. |
Please
bear in mind that the funding application process
takes time. A period of at least 4 months from
initial enquiry to a final decision is the norm. WWF-SA
cannot afford to deviate from this procedure, which
is designed to be both rigorous and fair. |
